Dorothea Young Shea

Dorothea Young Shea, “Dottie” passed away peacefully in Wilmington, Delaware on Monday, January 23, 2012.

Dottie was born in Philadelphia on April 27, 1928 to William M. and Dorothy E. Young. She grew up in Villanova, Pennsylvania, graduated from Lower Merion High School and attended The Greenbriar College in West Virginia.

As a young woman, Dottie enjoyed traveling the world and racing her motorboat in Ocean City, New Jersey.

She volunteered for many years at St. Francis Hospital and at her sons’ schools – St. Edmond’s Academy and Archmere Academy.

In addition to her husband and sons, Dottie is also survived by Tom Jr.’s wife, Mary, and their children, Marcy, Annie and Ted, and by Bill’s partner, Marty Kromer.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff who have been caring for Dottie so lovingly in recent years.

Services will be private. To celebrate Dottie’s love of gardens, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to fund projects at Neumann University, One Neumann Avenue, Aston, PA 19014-1298.
