Ocean City — The Ocean City girls track team dominated the distance races, but the Mainland Lady Mustangs won most of the events to beat the Lady Raiders in a double dual meet April 4 at Vineland.

Mainland defeated Ocean City 81-59. Both teams beat Vineland in the meet that went overtime because there weren’t enough officials to keep all the events running on time.

In the long jump, Mainland’s Vanessa Spollen and Ocean City’s Francesca Babore both hit the 15’6” mark, but Spollen had a better second jump to take first place. Mainland’s Amber Kruger was third at 15’5.25”.

Vicky Henry won the triple jump for Mainland, going 33 feet. Teammate Liz Chelius was second at 30’5.75” and Ocean City’s Aine Boyle was third at 29’7”.

Chelius went on to win the high jump at 4’10”. Ocean City’s Shannon Tarves also cleared 4’10”, but placed second because it took her more jumps, and Babore was third at 4’6”.

Tracey Masterson won the pole vault at 10’ for Mainland with teammate Jenna Santo second at 8’6” and Ocean City’s Maryanna Oberg third at 8’0”.

Lady Mustang sprinter Amber Kluger won the 100 and 200 meter races. Her time was 12.5 in the 100 and 26.8 in the 200. Henry and Masterson finished the Mainland sweep in the 100 and Babore and Henry went 2-3 in the 200.

Babore won the 400 in 1:03.6 for Ocean City, with Spollen second for Mainland and K. Kelly third for Ocean City.

The 400 intermediate hurdles started off poorly; the hurdles were set high rather than at the intermediate level, which caused the girls some problems going around the track. That was fixed by the second heat, after at least one girl tripped over one of the last hurdles.

Maggie Dods won the 400 hurdles in 1:12.6 with teammate Sarah Nagle third. Ocean City’s Rachel Stremme was second in 1:14.8.

Mainland swept the 100 high hurdles. Elise Nachtigal won in 17.3, followed by Chelius and Tiffany Gordon.

The Lady Raiders took all three top spots in the 1600 meters behind Mary Kate Brelsford, who ran 5:34.4. Kelly Williamson was second and Devon Grisbaum third.

Ocean City also swept the 3200 meters behind Brelsford, who posted a time of 12:22. Grisbaum was second and Erin Myers third.

Williamson won the 800 meters in 2:32.8 with teammate Stremme in second and Mainland’s Nagle in third.

Finishing out on the track, the Lady Mustangs won the 4x400 with Henry, Nagle, Kluger and Spollen.

In the field events, Christina Donall won the discuss with throw of 104’.5”. Ocean City’s Ashley Conrad was second at 90’5.25”.

D. Cameron won the shot put with a toss of 30’11”, ahead of teammate Donall’s 30’1.75” and Ocean City’s Madeline Greaser.

Kayleigh Stark had the top throw for Ocean City in the javelin, going 90’5”. Teammate Liza Barrick was second at 85’10” and Dods was third for Mainland at 84’4”.
