OCEAN CITY – It was a great day for golf on Monday, April 30, and 20 golfers showed up at the Brambley Golf League of Ocean City. This contrasted the previous week, when cold weather and wet conditions hed sway, only three golfers played.

On April 23, in harsh conditions, George Curtis and Bob Schauer managed to post 1-over-par rounds with their handicaps to share first place.

There were many more winners on April 30. Dean Birth led the way with a fine gross score of 43 to take first place in Flight A with a net 29, 8 under par with his handicap. Rich Hawthorne came in second in Flight A with a low gross round of 42 and net 34. The Bills – Bill Kruger and Bill Boland – tied for third place in Flight A, both coming in with net 35s.

There was another tie for first place in Flight B, with Carol Boland and Walt Thompson both carding net 33s to share the honors. Bob Bray continued his winning ways with a net 38 to take second place in Flight B while Jeanne Robinson also continued in the money with a net 39 for third place in Flight B.

You may rent golf carts and golfing equipment, i.e. clubs, golf bags, golf bag carriers, etc., at the Pro Shop any time they are open. Your handicapper suggests that if you want to get a golf cart, you come early on Mondays.

We also have available at the Pro Shop golf shirts commemorating the 20 years of Brambley Golf League, founded by 90-year-old Dick Brambley, a golf legend in Ocean City area. Many senior golfers continue his tradition by playing into their later years. The T-shirts are only $15 for league members.

All those who have played in the tournament in prior years are welcome back for the 2012 season. Tee times are 8 to 9:30 a.m. for the Brambley on Mondays. Those who have never played with us, but would like to play golf with a great group of men and women, are welcome to join us after establishing your handicap the first time you play in the tournament.

Our next tournament will be Monday, May 6.
