Ocean City —
Yianni’s Café at 841 Asbury Ave. will open a new restaurant on the Boardwalk at Moorlyn Terrace.
Owner Yiannis Siganos, who opened the café in 2008 on Asbury Avenue, said he’s branching out to Ocean City’s famous Boardwalk.
“We’re going to do something fresh and healthy on the Boardwalk,” Siganos said. “It’s definitely a good spot in Ocean City.”
Siganos hails from Crete, Greece’s largest island, and brought his love for fresh ingredients and healthy food to America.
Yianni’s Café emphasizes Mediterranean influences and healthy home-cooked meals.
In addition to the Asbury Avenue location, Siganos opened a restaurant at the Ocean City Community Center, offering paninis, wraps, salads, smoothies and lunch specials.
The new location, called Yianni’s on the Boardwalk, will offer a lighter version of their traditional menu.
Yianni’s on the Boardwalk will also offer breakfast sandwiches, fresh fruit salads, and bagels for the morning crowd, and sandwiches, authentic Greek gyros, salads and souvlaki for lunch and dinner.
Siganos said Yiannis on the Boardwalk willl be located at 822B Boardwalk, formerly a Subway sandwich shop at Moorlyn Terrace, will open mid-May.
“The Boardwalk is a magnet,” he said. “It was a good opportunity for me because the Boardwalk has people there. We feel there’s something missing over there.”
