PETERSBURG — There’s a time machine in the Upper Cape branch of the Cape May County Library, next to the water fountain to the right of the paperback room. It’s not deep blue or bigger on the inside, but a look at the glass display case can offer a glimpse into the distant past.

This summer, a series of artifacts recovered from two archaeological digs in Tuckahoe are on display, including pieces from the 18th century and before. Some pieces are far, far older.
