CAMDEN — Brittany O’Neill is riding a wave of euphoria following November’s successful 1st District legislative campaigns, but her outlook was not always so rosy.

In high school and early in her college career, O’Neill, who served as campaign manager for state Sen. Mike Testa and Assemblymen Antwan McClellan and Erik Simonsen, suffered from depression and a major eating disorder and later watched her mother, April O’Neill, struggle with and eventually die of lymphoma.
