OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce and the back bay merchants of Bay Avenue will host the first annual Bayside Family Day on Saturday, June 22 to kick off the summer season.
The festival will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the dock and parking lot located at 2nd Street and Bay Avenue. The event will display what the all of the bay businesses have to offer during the busy summer season that many people may not already know about.
There will be live music provided, courtesy of the Tidal Wave Band. Food vendors, entertainment, educational demonstrations, crafters, face-painting and more will be offered at this fun-filled day.
Jill Ebner of Shore Watersports said this day will showcase all that Bay Avenue has to offer.
A lot of people “don’t realize what they have to offer,” Ebner said due to the location.
The new, annual event will highlight not only many of the businesses on the back bay, but the improvements made by the city, like new infrastructure and sidewalks, Michele Gillian, the Executive Director of Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce said.
The event was started to celebrate the back bay side of the city that often gets overshadowed by Asbury Avenue, the beach and boardwalk.
Some of the educational demonstrations will include kayaking instructions, water safety activities by the police department, the coast guard, and many other water activities offered by businesses in the back bay, Gillian said.
“There are fun things for everyone,” Gillian said. “It will be an enjoyable afternoon.”
It is a great opportunity to learn about the bayside of Ocean City and have a ton of fun while attending.
Presenting sponsors for the event include: Jet Drive Exchange Boat & Jet Ski Club, Ocean City Parasail, Pirate Voyages and Totally Tubular Watersports.
