SOMERS POINT — The AtlantiCare Concerts on the Beach in Somers Point continue this week with a special Thursday performance to celebrate Independence Day.

On July 12, one of southern New Jersey’s most popular party dance bands, The Deck Band, will make its premiere on the beach playing favorite dance tunes before a member of the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame, Joe Louis Walker, returns with his gutsy, authentic blues rock and soulful musical performance.

On July 19, “Jumpin’ Johnny” Sansone performs along with Golden Globe-nominated performer from Broadway and movies Dana Fuchs, emerging star of the roots rock scene making her premiere appearance on the beach.

On July 26, Will Power, a top-notch tribute band, will be bringing the music of Tower of Power with a big band performance of Tower of Power’s greatest hits, including “What is Hip?,” “Down to the Nightclub” and “Still a Young Man,” as well as many tremendous compositions that have made Tower of Power one of the greatest funk bands. This will be a true, first time, funky good time on the beach in the heart of the season.

On Aug. 2, the beach stage will be populated by one of the greatest groups of Texas and Los Angeles recording artists in the world today, the Phantom Blues Band, with more than 40 Grammy awards to its credit. Starring “Big Mike” Finnegan, who recorded “Electric Ladyland” with Jimi Hendrix, and “Slammin’ Tony” Braunigal, who has produced dozens of artists from Eric Burden and the Animals to Robert Cray.  The six-piece ensemble has played with everyone from Joe Cocker to Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, Etta James, Stevie Ray Vaughan, BB King, the Blues Brothers, Hendrix and more.

On Aug. 9, it will be the long-anticipated return of party dance bands the Jerimiah Hunter Band, playing shore classics starring Kenny Jerimiah from the Soul Survivors and Bob Hunter from Full House as well as renowned and beloved guitarist and producer Kit Worton.

On Aug. 16, it’s back to New Orleans with one of the greatest brassy funky rock ‘n’ roll bands on the scene today, Bonerama, performing their latest funk, New Orleans classics and their brand new brassy tribute to Led Zeppelin.

The familiar party dance music returns on Aug. 23 when one of the Northeast’s premier party bands, the Dane Anthony Band, performs Motown, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s dance music with all-star saxophone player Howard Isaacson.

On Friday, Aug. 30, to kick off the Labor Day weekend, the Somers Point Beach Concerts will present Beginnings, one of the finest, if not the finest, tributes to Chicago, one of America’s most popular and enduring bands. Relive the experience and become enraptured in the performance of all the great songs from one of America’s greatest bands.

Another major rock ‘n’ roll producer will make his debut on the beach in the special Labor Day Sunday night concert, Sept. 1, when three-time Grammy Award-winner and eight time Grammy-nominated Tom Hambridge performs the great songs he wrote, produced and recorded with the greatest roots rock stars of our time including Buddy Guy, BB King, Rascal Flatts, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Tedeschi Trucks Band and many more. This will be a family experience with a true star of today’s music scene that is sure to be a highlight of the entire summer season. Opening for Tom Hambridge will be Ed Jackson’s Time Out, a powerful, authentic ensemble of performers who have been inducted into the New York State Blues Hall of Fame.

The finale concert Friday, Sept. 6, brings the living legend of Louisiana zydeco, CJ Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band, to the stage after being rained in for a performance last year. Chenier has won dozens of Louisiana and national awards and his father, Clifton Chenier, was the original father of zydeco who brought modern zydeco into the electric era.
