NORTHFIELD — Former Belhaven Middle School music teacher Kimberly Peschi showed no emotion as she left the courtroom Friday after hearing the judge explain why she would be required to forfeit her license as a public employee.

Peschi, 41, of Galloway Township, was found guilty of simple assault by Judge Timothy P. Maguire in May for pushing back the chair of a sixth-grade student in the school cafeteria, causing the student to fall backward and hit his head on the floor. The incident occurred in February 2017. The guilty verdict resulted in Peschi being ordered to pay a $100 fine and court costs. At that time, Atlantic County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Seth Levy requested the forfeiture of Peschi’s teaching license.
