OCEAN CITY – Plans for a new skate park and a final design to help alleviate flooding in Merion Park were two projects Mayor Jay Gillian addressed in a Dec. 6 letter to the community.

The city constructed a skateboard park on Sixth Street and the Boardwalk next to the Civic Center in 2001. In 2008, council voted to dismantle the park, but not relocate it next to the fire station on Fifth Street and West Avenue. The former skateboard site on Sixth Street is now back to being part of the municipal parking lot accessible from Fifth Street.
