Shooting Island ‘living shoreline’ first phase done

150-acre swath being expanded with rock sill and oyster blocks

OCEAN CITY – Contractors have finished the first phase of a “living shoreline” project for Shooting Island, a 150-acre swath of mud and marsh grass west of Ocean City.

The $2.3 million contract, to Charter Contracting Company of Boston, was approved last November and completed this spring.
