Shore nurses stage one-day strike

Union, management haven’t agreed on contract

SOMERS POINT – A few hundred people stood outside of Shore Medical Center on Tuesday, Nov. 26, chanting, parading, and waving signs, to protest what Shore Nurses Union representatives said is a proposed cut in nurses’ health care benefits.

Suzanne Jenkins, a co-president of the Shore Nurses Union, said the nurses union has “had the same contract for two years.” She said the current contract expired Dec. 31, 2018 but was extended through last May.
