On Thursday, July 11, 2019, beloved husband of Barbara Harter Zanner. Survived by daughters, Nancy Z. Correll; Susan Zanner; adored dog Soren; granddaughter, Andrea Correll; son-in-law, Cory Correll.

Al was a fifth-generation Washingtonian. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1947, from GWU, in 1949, from AU in 1951, then earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Dental School on UMD in 1955. He served in the Air Force as dental officer from 1955 to 1957.

He spent a lifetime of summers at the Jersey shore, ultimately putting roots in Ocean City. He gained strength and peace from his times there, cultivating friendships and experiences.

He had many talents, being a writer of poetry and music, and was a food critic for the Broadsider Magazine in OCNJ. He was a sought-after dentist in Gaithersburg MD, for 38 years, being particularly privileged  to treat disabled children at several hospitals. He was a schtick entertainer in nursing homes, a free spirit, and a hospice caregiver. Nurturing his faith in God was most important.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the U.S. Humane Society.
