1969 – Christopher Hughes was found not guilty of the murder of Harry Anglemyer (1927-1964) owner of Ocean City’s Copper Kettle fudge shops.  Anglemyer was found brutally beaten in his car parked on the shoulder of Ocean Drive near the Longport-Ocean City bridge on Labor Day 1964.  Authorities sited “witness trouble” for the not-guilty verdict and Hughes was returned to Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary where he was serving time for extortion.
