1919 – The prestigious Hotel Cape May was returned to its owner following use as an army hospital during World War I.  The hotel first opened in 1908 and was at one time the largest hotel in the world.  It underwent five bankruptcies before it was purchased in 1962 by the Christian Beacon Press headed by Dr. Carl McIntyre for use as a conference center.  It was demolished in 1996.
