October 26th 

1939 – Costumes based on the Wizard of Oz were very popular in that year’s Halloween Parade and first prize went to Irene Shaw who was dressed as the Tin Man.  When the movie debuted in Ocean City that August, 4,630 people attended the opening at the Moorlyn Theatre.
