I have to get this off of my mind. I picked up a small tube of shaving cream and looked at the ingredients. I’m not even sure what I was looking for, but here is what I found.

Some of the phrases on the tube were translated into French. “Shaving Cream” was translated to “Crème a raser.” I turned the tube over and the first item in the list of ingredients was “water.” The manufacturer translated water twice, once in Latin (aqua) and then in French (eau). As I scanned the ingredients, I realized nothing else was translated. For example, Polysorbate 80. I have heard of Polysorbate 80 – I didn’t know what it was, but I had heard of it. It’s an emulsifier, which keeps items such as oil and water mixed rather than separating.
