On Monday, Nov. 4, Ocean City laid to rest its favorite son, William J. Hughes, former Congressman and Ambassador to Panama who died Oct. 30.

Hughes served 20 years in Congress, representing New Jersey’s Second District from 1975 to 1995. President Bill Clinton appointed him U.S. Ambassador to Panama in 1995, a position he held until 1998.
