Citizens fought lot purchase, get more housing instead

It’s dumb now for Fairness in Taxes (FIT) to be questioning whether the city has the option to buy or condemn the former Ocean City Chevrolet car dealership between Haven and Simpson avenues. 

Last fall, the city passed a bond ordinance to buy the property from owners Klause Enterprises, LLC for $9 million. The one block, 1.9-acre tract is one of the last open spaces on the island and could’ve been used for a new public safety building, recreation, overflow parking for the Community Center, or a park.
