 Ocean City’s blue laws – ordinance 947 – were a product of a bygone era from this Ocean City’s founding as a seaside Christian resort. Overzealous and overreaching in their approach, the blue laws made it illegal for businesses to do most business or for beaches to be open on Sundays. 

The ordinance made it unlawful for people to “engage in any worldly employment or business” or to operate “any amusement, sport or entertainment for admittance.”
