September 14th 

1996 – Somers Point’s 18th Annual Good Old Days Festival took place in spite of the fact that Hurricane Fran threatened to shut down the festivities.  (No rain date was ever set for the event, as weather was never a problem.)  Though a strong wind prevailed, some 9000 people enjoyed the event, which commemorated the 100th anniversary of the motor car, and the 50th anniversary of the baby boomer generation.  Fifty-year-old boomer President Bill Clinton was invited, but did not attend.
