They were going to check if merchants were illegally doing business on Sundays

OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Sentinel-Ledger reported Aug. 9, 1963 that private detectives were making purchases around town to see if merchants violated the Sunday blue laws.

Mayor B. Thomas Waldman announced that the city retained the William J. Burns International Detective Agency, Inc. the paper reported.
