OCEAN CITY – As reported in the May 13, 1965 edition of the Ocean City Sentinel-Ledger, the city acquired the Central Avenue School for one dollar as the new police headquarters.

“Public Safety Director D. Allen Stretch emphasized yesterday that the community has long outgrown the present police headquarters which, he said, are ‘not significantly larger’ than when City Hall was opened for business in 1915, half a century ago,” the paper reported.
