To the Editor:

Mr. Kirk Hasting’s letter about diversity in the March 6 edition of the Sentinel is the definition of prejudice as defined, “prejudice is a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience.” First and foremost, he is making comments about an event he did not even attend. What a sad commentary that he is so blinded by his own negativity that just because a person celebrates and shares where they came from, does not mean or take away any appreciation or pride in where they are now. My brother-in-law is a Cuban American who served in the United States Marine Corps, currently serves in our U.S. government, but he still shares and is proud of his Cuban heritage.
