Letters to the Editor Somers Point vision plan doesn't address quality of life issuesPublished in the February 08, 2012 issue
To the Editor: The residents of Somers Point are seriously past the point of party-oriented political activity. The time for furthering the personal interests of a Somers Point political party, whether it is Republican, Democrat, or Independent, must stop now. The time for furthering the pet projects of a majority planning board must end. It’s not working! Somers Point officials need to do more than just take pictures of themselves handing out awards. Elected officials need to turn their attention to the quality of life issues affecting the great people left in Somers Point who make this town tick. I urge every resident to take a copy of their tax bill, drive around Somers Point, then ask yourself, “is my money going to good use?” Spending $50,000 on a Vision Plan for Somers Point is equivalent to getting a nose job while the doctor is attempting to save you from cardiac arrest. There is an old saying “study the past if you would define the future.” Where is the future of Somers Point? It’s not on Bay Avenue. Our future lies with the residents, our children, and creating a quality of life to keep families in Somers Point. Without the residents Somers Point has left, there is no vision plan.
