Letters to the Editor Joy to listen to Mother's Day concertPublished in the May 16, 2012 issue
To the Editor: Several of us had the pleasure of attending the annual Mother’s Day concert on Sunday at the Music Pier that was presented by the West Chester (Pa.) Senior Strings Orchestra. The orchestra that was composed of extremely talented seniors from the West Chester Area School District in Pennsylvania was under the very capable direction of Charles dePasquale. We were amazed and gratified by the consummate performance that the students gave under the leadership of Mr. Charles dePasquale. In an era when public schools are under continual attack from a variety of ill informed sources and when funding for school programs is being decimated by unthinking politicians, it is truly remarkable to experience the continued devotion of a music educator of the caliber of Charles dePasquale. His students were supremely prepared and meticulously disciplined in performance protocol. The hour-long concert could have been extended for at least another hour. It was a joy to listen to the selections and to observe the talents of both the student musicians and their conductor. Bravo to all who were involved! Stephen R. Gring, Ed.D.
