‘American Dream’ house near popular shore towns in peaceful neighborhood

SEAVILLE — The two-story traditional at 5 Chadwyn Drive in the Palermo section of Upper Township could be pictured alongside the word “home” in the dictionary.

With a grassy front yard dotted by mature oak trees and a long drive with a basketball net leading up to a two-car garage, it’s “an affordable American Dream,” listing agent Elsie Jamison said.

Featuring a beautiful light and bright den off the expansive eat-in kitchen, a dining room, living room, office and powder room, the first floor has plenty of space to get together and keep apart. It’s terrific for entertaining but also functional as an everyday living space.

Four bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs offer abundant room for a large family and guests, and there is a bonus room off one of the bedrooms for storage or a special play area.

“You will fall in love with this meticulously maintained home, which has tons of updates throughout including newer stainless steel appliances, a heated tile floor in the kitchen, recently renovated bathrooms and a new roof and skylights,” Jamison said.

The property, which is 289 feet by 132 feet, features mulched beds bursting with annual and perennial flowers and shrubs along the street and bordering the home.

A concrete walkway leads up to the front porch, where a beautiful entryway includes a solid-wood door with dentil molding and leaded-glass windows.

Inside, the welcoming foyer has wood-impression tile flooring and multiple options from which to choose. The carpeted stairs to the second floor are straight ahead, with a hall leading past the powder room to the kitchen alongside. The office is to the left and the living room is to the right.

Behind a handsome set of French doors, the office has a built-in desktop and two large windows in the front. In fact, the home was designed to take advantage of natural light, with multiple windows in every room, cutouts between rooms and skylights to bring it in from above.

The living room is in the front right of the home and has windows facing the front and side yards, as well as a wide opening into the dining room in the back right. Stained wood crown molding and casing perfectly complement the rustic setting outside.

A long wood table in the dining room provides plenty of space for the family to gather around for a home-cooked meal or pizza on a Friday night. An alcove with three windows overlooking the back yard adds a touch of old-school charm.

The kitchen, just steps away to the left, is clearly the heart of the home, with abundant wood cabinets, a heated tile floor and stainless-steel Maytag appliances. The stacked-stone backsplash matches a wall alongside the refrigerator and the fireplace in the den next door.

A sliding glass door next to a table and chairs provides access to the back porch and provides more natural light, which flows into the den through the large cutout.

Speaking of the den, it is a terrific space with a ceiling sloping down from 16 feet above toward the rear. A wall-mounted television hangs above the fireplace and dentil molding matching the front door brings cohesiveness to the aesthetic.

“Everywhere you look you will see a tasteful update done with quality craftsmanship,” Jamison said.

A back staircase rises to a carpeted landing on the second floor, where a large cutout overlooks the den.

One of the children’s bedrooms is to the right above the garage, while two more are to either side of the hall leading to the primary suite. There’s also a hall bathroom with a tub/shower sporting one-piece tile walls and sliding glass doors.

The primary suite is at the top of the front stairs, which are carpeted and have an oak railing with spindles. There is a large sleeping chamber with a king-size bed and multiple windows. A hall leading to the ensuite bath has three closets, two of the walk-in variety.

Inside, the bathroom has a slate tile floor, bead board wainscoting, a tiled shower and a granite-topped vanity beneath a smart mirror with Bluetooth.

Outside, in addition to the picturesque front yard there are two sheds off the blacktop drive and an open backyard with a fence to keep young children and pets from wandering off.

There’s plenty of room for a swimming pool alongside the back porch, with has a pergola for shade and a lower section for sunbathing.

The street ends in a cul-de-sac where there is a tennis court and playground.

The property is listed for $649,900 with Elsie Jamison of Grace Realty. Call (609) 675-6889 or email elsiejamison.realtor@gmail.com for more information or to set up an appointment to see this wonderful home.
