Ocean City High School's Erin Hanlon breaks record

Ocean City High School junior Erin Hanlon broke the 400-meter indoor school record Monday, Feb. 3, at the New York City armory Track & Field at 168th Street at the Varsity Classic Meet. Her time was 59.78 seconds, breaking Lauren McHale’s 1998 record of 1:01.19, according to OCHS winter track coach Matt Purdue. McHale remains part of a slightly older record set in the 1996-97 season, the 4x400 meters with Megan McNulty, Mary-Beth Wendorf and Kathleen Schmid. Current teammate Alexa Palmieri finished second in the 3200-meter invitational at the meet. Palmieri’s time was 11:23.04. The junior finished behind Indian Hills sophomore Allison Lounsbury, who won in 11:17.08
