OCEAN CITY – This past week, Ocean City High School students had the opportunity to participate in a doubles badminton tournament.

This tournament, as well as many others, was sponsored by the Open Gym Club.

Open Gym Club was described by Catherine Kline, one of the teachers who runs it, as “an extension of the physical education program at the high school.” Sponsored by the Municipal Alliance Committee (MAC), the club’s activities are geared towards keeping students active and away from drugs and alcohol. Kline explains that Open Gym Club’s activities are a good way to practice and show what students learn in their gym classes at school.

Open Gym Club organizes various activities throughout the school year, including pickleball, badminton, and dodgeball tournaments. Any student in the high school is welcome to participate in the activities sponsored by the club and occasionally the faculty is invited to join the students to add a bit of extra fun.
